3 Reasons Why We Call It Youth Fitness Training, Not Sports Performance
We don't call it sports performance training. Here's why we call it Youth Fitness Training instead, and what that means for your kid at TNT Fitness.
We call our program youth fitness training because, well, it's youth fitness training.
Most kids 10-18 years old just need to be active. Some choose sports, and they love it. But a lot of those same kids get buried in games, lessons, and skills training at a young age.
And when they hit a wall, they don't have the strength to get faster. They lack the power to be more explosive on the field, court, or even the mound. Once they hit the pre-teen years, their performance starts to go down.
In our mind, performance training belongs in practice, with skill coaches. Or at least, that's where it should happen.
Our program focuses on improving movement quality first. That way, a kid who plays sports notices real improvements without doing too much more. And while their teammates and competitors get tired from playing so much, they keep getting stronger as the game goes on.
But I digress. This article is about the three reasons we call our program Youth Fitness Training.
It's for Everyone, Literally
All kids are invited to join our program. Here in Menasha, we see it all the time: kids who don't play sports can feel alone. They want to be active, they want to be strong, but they just don't know how to do that. So they decide not to try. They spend a lot of time on their tablets and struggle to feel healthy, strong, and confident.
Fitness Isn't a Short-Term Thing. It's a Life Thing.
If you're reading this, you probably played sports or did some kind of activity growing up. Me too. I was a big sports kid. But when sports ended, I was stuck.
I spent years in the weight room with teams, but when it was done, I struggled to get back on track.
Fitness is for life. It's not something we do short term. We want kids to love exercise. We want them asking when they get to go back, not dreading the idea of it.
It's Different
Elite performance training is a fancy buzzword. In the end, most performance programs follow an adult protocol, and some kids love it while others hate it.
We have fun, we teach kids how to move well, and we challenge them all at the same time. That's how habits are created.
Youth Fitness Training is for every kid, especially the ones who don't play sports. It's for the kid who just needs to move more. It's just different.
If you want your kid to experience what that actually looks like, our B.R.A.V.E. Youth Fitness program here in the Fox Cities is built around exactly this.
